TANZANIA NATIONAL ROADS AGENCY (TANROADS)

The Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS), is an Executive Agency under the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communications, established under section 3(1) of the Executive Agencies Act (Cap 245), and came into operation in July, 2000. The Agency is responsible for the maintenance and development of the trunk and regional road network in Tanzania Mainland.

TANZANIA BUILDING AGENCY (TBA)

Tanzania Buildings Agency (TBA), is the government’s Executive Agency under the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communications (MoWTC), with a primary mandate of providing quality accommodation to Government and public servants as well as building consultancy services to the Government.

TANZANIA ELECTRICAL, MECHANICAL AND ELECTRONICS SERVICES AGENCY (TEMESA)

The Tanzania Electrical, Mechanical and Electronics Services Agency (TEMESA), was established under the authority of the Executive Agencies Act No. 30 of 1997 by an Establishment Order by the Minister for Works through Government Notice No.254 of 26th August 2005. TEMESA was specifically established to provide efficient and effective electrical, mechanical and electronic services, reliable and safe ferry transport services and hiring of equipment to government institutions and the public at large.

ENGINEER REGISTRATION BOARD (ERB)

The Mission of the Board is "To regulate engineering practice in Tanzania and promote engineering among local engineers and engineering consulting firms with a view to enhancing their competitiveness and promote professionalism in the engineering practice".

CONTRACTORS REGISTRATION BOARD (CRB)

The Contractors Registration Board is a Government Regulatory Board under the Ministry of Works established by Act of Parliament No 17 of 1997 with the objective to register and regulate all types of Contractors and to promote the development of their capacities for the purpose of protecting consumers of construction services in Tanzania.

ARCHITECTS AND QUANTITY SURVEYORS REGISTRATION BOARD (AQRB)

Architects and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board was established by the Architects and Quantity Surveyors (Registration) Act No 16 of 1997, which was repealed and replaced by Act No 4 of 2010; and among its activities is to register and regulate conducts of Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Interior Designers, Landscape Architects, Conservation Architects, Naval Architects, Furniture Architects, Building Surveyors and Construction Managers.

ROADS FUND BOARD (RFB)

Roads Fund Board was established by the road and fuel tolls act, chapter 220. The Roads Fund was to be used to meet maintenance cost for regional coarse roads as well as to fund the rehabilitation and maintenance of urban and district roads. Funds were to be derived from the road toll levied on petrol and diesel and various sources levied on motor vehicles such as motor vehicle licenses, motor vehicle registration etc.

NATIONAL CONSTRUCTION COUNCIL (NCC)

The National Construction Council (NCC), is a government institution established through Act of Parliament No. 20 of 1979 (National Construction Council Act CAP 162 R.E. 2008) and became operational in 1981. Its establishment was prompted by the need to have an institution for promoting the development of the construction industry in Tanzania.
